SAN DIEGO, CA -  Even as Gabriela Network members package clothes, food and medicine for shipment to the Philippines, the oldest and largest militant Filipina organization in the US prepares to celebrate its 20th year of existence.   About 200 are expected to gather on October 10th at the Joan Kroc Center for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego campus.

San Diego County's largest Filipino event is this weekend.  The 5th Annual FilAmFest is a one day street festival that showcases the culture, heritage, and history of the Philippine community in San Diego.

Beginning as the Filipino Heritage Festival, the annual event has quickly grown into the premiere gathering in San Diego for the community, with support from the City of San Diego and several local schools and organized groups.

Ashley Robles Filipino AmericanAshley Robles is a Pilipina-American Singer/Song-Writer/Producer who is no definitely stranger to the music industry. She was born and raised in San Diego, and has been performing anywhere and everywhere in the 619 for the past decade now.

 In 1998, she signed her first contract with First Avenue Records (UK) and later released her first recording, "God's With Us", on the “Touched by an Angel: Christmas Album” under Sony/Epic Records. She was also privileged to sing, live, for the industry's well-known music executive, Tommy Mottola.

Pride Rice Dance CrewWanna get in on a great dance crew? Recently featured on GMA 7 Philippines, GMA Pinoy TV and ABS-CBN TFC, Pride Rice Dance Crew is hosting auditions in San Diego this Friday, July 24th. Come out and have some fun with this awesome bunch of folks.

Pride Rice Dance Crew was founded March 2009 by siblings Michelle, Jordan, and Devin Banares. With the assistance of their artistic director, Erik Molina, they were able to mold their dance group into an eclectic hip-hop team. Pride Rice is a team that strives on the positivity, growth, and commitment of its dancers.

Pride RiceA new dance crew from South Bay San Diego made their debut on Friday May 29th at the VuQo Launch party. The scene was at CBS Studios in Hollywood, in front of Pil Am celebrities and guests, many witnessed their eclectic style of hip hop dance flavor. It was a thrilling and anxious moment for the group. But their hard work and determination were all displayed on stage. 

Pride Rice was founded by the Banares siblings (Michelle, Devin, Jordan), which happens to be the children of Larry Banares also known as “Chef Larry.”
