FilAm ARTS, the organization who brings us Southern California's Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) every year, just launched a new campaign to stimulate Pilipino American businesses - Buy Pinoy.  This campaign connects Pil-Am owned businesses and Pil-Am customers in a network of mutual support.

World Boxing Champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao led the exciting grand opening fiesta of Island Pacific Seafood Market at Canoga Park last Friday, February 12, 2010. Over 1,500 eager guests and customers awaited the legendary hero’s mini concert with songwriter Lito Camo and his MP Band. The first lucky 150 customers received an autographed photo of Pacman, while the others received gift certificates and t-shirts as giveaways of the event.

Pilipinos have been subject to the lack of relevant exposure in mainstream media.  Many aspiring actors and actress have been typecasted in roles such as a leader of a child gang of misfits, a ninja turtle accomplice, and many other non-Pilipino characters.  Other than films like "The Debut" and "Lumpia," when do Pilipino Americans actually play...Pilipinos?  The last couple of years have been great in terms of representing Pilipino talent in singing, dancing, and the arts.  But what about Pilipinos on the main stage as a character portraying their own ethnicity?
