Filipino-American Rapper IZZY Wins Kollaboration New York 8

IZZY's championship performance at Kollaboration New York 8 on September 28th at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts had the crowd on their feet.  He performed a medley of his original songs with a band backing him up and the graceful choreography from his background dancers accentuating every lyric he rapped.

A Queens, New York native, twenty-five year old IZZY, or Izzy Manaloto, paid homage to the city of New York by rapping about the being "at the top", and carrying around a businessman's staple accessory: a briefcase.  Coincidentally, IZZY is not only a rapper, but a producer, photographer, videographer, and businessman as well; he is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of DynastyStyle, a clothing company that seeks to promote individual creativity.  When asked about why he takes on so many roles, IZZY said, "I think art is universal, and I want to be able to create all the time and in many different ways."

As part of his prize, IZZY will open up for Clara C when she comes to New York on October 12th and has the chance to compete in Kollaboration Global on November 16th in Pasadena, CA to win the grand prize of $20,000.

Although IZZY did take home the top prize, he only has good things to say about his fellow nine competitors, which ranged from a step team to singer/songwriters to the Second Place dual pianists, The Super Piano Brothers.  "I hope to make awesome and artistic bonds with my fellow competitors," he says.  Hopefully we'll get to see this year's Kollaboration New York 8 finalists collaborate soon!
