FilAmFest Gearing up for Ninth Annual Festival

The Filipino American Arts & Culture Festival, better known as FilAmFest, is gearing up for their upcoming ninth annual street festival. FilAmFest will be held on October 5, 2013 and will be located on Paradise Valley Road between Woodman Street and Gilmartin Drive. FilAmFest is one of San Diego’s largest arts and culture festival. This year’s festival theme is celebrating Unsung Heroes in the Filipino American community and their contributions to the community.

This year, FilAmFest is expecting 12,000 attendees to enjoy a day of Filipino cultural experience from food to entertainment to participating in the many program areas. Families are highly encouraged to attend the festival, as there is something for everyone from children to parents to grandparents.

This year’s program will feature a health and wellness area sponsored by title sponsor, Operation Samahan, a children’s arts and crafts area, art show and much more for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Festival attendees can expect a great Filipino American cultural experience at this year’s events as they enjoy the many performances and take part in the festivities brought to them by our many community partners.

For the fifth year in a row, FilAmFest continues to support the youth in the community by providing a scholarship available to high school and college students. By promoting community service and higher education, the purpose of the scholarship is to continue to build and support young leaders in the San Diego Filipino American community. Students can win up to $500 in scholarship reward money to put towards their education.
