Walnut City Councilmember Antonio “Tony” Cartagena paid a courtesy call on Consul General Maria Hellen Barber De La Vega on Monday, November 19, 2012.
Councilmember Cartagena, who is now on his fourth term at the City Council of Walnut, was first elected to a four year term at the City Council in April 2000. He was re-elected in 2004, 2008, and 2012. He also served as Mayor of Walnut City in September 2002, 2006, and 2010 and was Mayor Pro Tem for three terms.
Councilmember Cartagena, who was born, raised and educated in the Philippines, migrated to California, U.S.A. in the late 1970s and worked for the Los Angeles County at the Financial Services Division.
In October 2010, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors presented Councilmember Cartagena with a commendation for his almost 35 years of exemplary service.
